‘Avatar’ sequels
Filmmaker James Cameron will write and direct the second and third parts of the sci-fi movie “Avatar” for release in 2014 and 2015. Cameron and 20th Century Fox studio, which will begin production of the movies at the end of 2011, plan to release the second installment in December 2014.
Tokyo festival
“Intimate Grammar,” an Israeli film about a boy in the 1960s who stops growing for three years, claimed the top prize at the 23rd Tokyo International Film Festival, giving director Nir Bergman the festival’s main award for a second time.
Chinese actress Fan bingbing won best actress for her role in “Buddha Mountain.” Chinese actor Wang Qianyuan won best actor for “The Piano in a Factory.”
Barbie Hsu engaged
Taiwan actress Barbie Hsu has gotten engaged to Wang Xiaofei, the son of a wealthy Chinese businesswoman, Wang announced on Friday on his microblog* account.
The lovebirds were spotted holding hands at an airport in Shanghai on Friday. Later in the day, the two announced their engagement on their respective microblogs.
‘Sopranos’ actress dies
Denise Borino-Quinn, who played a role as a mafia* wife on “The Sopranos,” died last Wednesday after a long battle with liver cancer.. She was 46.
