2011 Asia Fixed Gear Championship
    2011-06-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    刘仪婷 南山实验学校麒麟中学部初一(2)班

The 2011 Asia Fixed Gear Championship was held from May 28 to 29 at Nanshan Fisherman’s Wharf. This competition involved the fixed-gear bicycle, also known as the fixed-wheel bicycle or fixie. It has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast — the pedals are constantly in motion when the bicycle is moving.

This championship attracted participants from throughout Asia, such as Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and China.

The contest was so impressive that almost every move inspired a roar from the crowd. We later interviewed Mr. Jan, one of the organizers.

“Mr. Jan, what’s the most interesting thing about fixed gear?’’

He smiled: “We all like it, and it’s all just for fun.”
