Highway network to reach 699 km in length
    2011-10-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Han Ximin

TO improve the city highway network and strengthen connection among different business and residential clusters, the city’s highway and expressway network will be extended from the current 425 kilometers to 699 kilometers.

According to the white book, five road links including roads linking Liuxian Boulevard in Nanshan and Liuxian No.3 Road in Bao’an, Qianjin Road in Bao’an and Langshan Road in Nanshan and Hubin Road in Bao’an with Caguang Road in Nanshan will be built. The road links will greatly strengthen the connection between Bao’an CBD and Nanshan’s northern areas.

Before the end of 2015, Shenzhen will renovate and extend 61 roads in Nanshan, Futian, Luohu and Yantian. The road projects will divert the vehicle flow in Beihuan Boulevard, Shennan Boulevard, and Sungang Road among others.

Shenzhen now ranks No.1 among Chinese cities in terms of vehicle density. It now has more than 1.8 million vehicles on its roads and the number is increasing at a rate of 18 percent on average a year.
