SZES to recommend 30 students to HKU
     2011-November-9  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

   Wang yuanyuan

Shenzhen Experimental School (SZES) will be allowed to recommend 30 students to the University of Hong Kong (HKU) next year.

The 30 students include 15 studying for science degrees and 15 for arts degrees, according to the school on Saturday.

They must be among the top 50 students at Senior 3 or among the top 100 students who had won national or provincial competitions in science majors, IT or English, according to an agreement signed between the school and the university.

Every candidate will be given written examinations and interviews in December. The examinations and interviews will be in English.

Those who pass the two-round examinations can get additional scores of 5 to 25 points at their National College Entrance Examinations next year.

The school has started recommending students to the university since 2009 and the numbers in 2009 and 2010 were 15 and 25 respectively, the school said.

Meanwhile, Shenzhen Middle School can recommend two students to Qinghua University and three students to Beijing University this year, while Shenzhen Foreign Languages School can recommend one student to Qinghua University.
