A LARGE scroll depicting Shenzhen’s cityscape was donated to Shenzhen Museum last week.
The 18-meter-long, 0.85-meter-wide artwork was painted with traditional Chinese painting methods. It contains a panoramic view of Shenzhen from Dapeng Peninsula in the east and Bao’an International Airport in the west. More than 50 landmarks of Shenzhen and more than 2,000 people from different walks of life are in the painting. Well-known Chinese scholar Rao Zongyi wrote a preface for the scroll.
Ye Yang, curator of Shenzhen Museum, said the scroll would be shown to the public soon. It was the first-ever hand scroll to depict the cityscape of Shenzhen with traditional Chinese painting skills, he said.
Ye praised the painting as an excellent piece of art. “The painting captured the sprit of Shenzhen,” said Ye.
The painting was jointly done by Shenzhen Liyuan Cultural Industries Development Co. Ltd. and the Institute for Cultural Industries of Shenzhen University.
