WORK started Tuesday on the Shenzhen Bay Technology and Eco City, an industrial park that will integrate environmental protection with industrial upgrading when it is completed in four years, yesterday’s Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.
With an investment of 15 billion yuan (US$2.38 billion), the park, located in the center of the Shenzhen Bay area, will cover an area of 203,000 square meters and has a total construction area of 1.6 million square meters.
The project, an important part of the city’s 12th Five-Year Program (2011-2015), contains four sections, and construction has started on the four sections simultaneously. About 200,000 square meters of factory buildings will be completed and put into use within 18 months, the report said.
On completion, 30 to 50 listed companies will set up their headquarters in the park while 50 to 80 companies in the strategic emerging industries will operate there.
The park, which will offer a pleasant living and working environment with more than 30,000 square meters of roof gardens and 50,000 square meters of rooftop green belts, will contain factory buildings, office buildings, commercial facilities, high-end hotels and serviced apartments, the report said.
