    Lee Myung-bak visits China

    At the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak arrived in Beijing on Monday, starting his three-day state visit to China.

    Lee and Hu will consider a free-trade agreement and will also discuss how to “work together for the sake of peace and stability on the Korean peninsula,” Lee’s office said in a statement on Sunday.

    Armed robbery suspect

    More than 13,000 police officers have been dispatched* to search for a male suspect who shot and robbed a man in front of a bank in Nanjing on Friday, police said on Saturday.

    The suspect, a man believed to be in his 40s, shot a 42-year-old construction company employee, who had just finished withdrawing 200,000 yuan (US$31,700), in front of a bank on Nanjing’s Dongmen Street at 9:50 a.m. on Friday.

    D&G photo ban

    More than 1,000 people protested outside a Dolce & Gabbana store in Hong Kong on Sunday after the Italian clothing store allegedly prevented people from taking photographs of its shop front.

    The protest followed reports that a Dolce & Gabbana security guard had stopped a photographer taking pictures of its shop front from the pavement outside. More than 13,000 people protested over the incident on Facebook.

    Buffett to welcome

    Chinese New Year

    U.S. investment guru* Warren Buffett is expected to give Spring Festival wishes and sing in an online gala.

    China Network Television — which will host an online Spring Festival Gala to be broadcast globally during the traditional Chinese holiday in two weeks — said Buffett provided a short video clip of his previous music performance in the United States.
