HOUSING with a Mission, a joint design by Dutch and Chinese architects for the “ants tribe,” or low-income college graduates, has won the Organizer Committee Award of the Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (HKSZB).
Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin presented the award Sunday evening at the closing ceremony of the HKSZB at OCT-LOFT.
The three-month HKSZB has brought 60 projects and dozens of forums to Shenzhen. Twelve of the projects will remain in the city for public exhibition, according to Terence Riley, chief curator of the HKSZB.
About 150,000 people visited the HKSZB, according to the organizer.
Riley expressed thanks to all sponsors and participants of the HKSZB. He said: “It is my hope that I will be able to return to Shenzhen many more times and witness the continuing growth of this great metropolis, which has become a global laboratory of innovation in urbanism and architecture.”
The first Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture was held in December 2005 and curated by internationally renowned Chinese architect Yung Ho Chang. It has increased its influence around the world.
