American injured in knife attack in Beijing
     2012-May-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN American man was attacked by a knife-wielding assailant in downtown Beijing on Wednesday afternoon, according to local police.

The man was stabbed in the buttocks by a 61-year-old Chinese man in Qianmen, just south of Tian’anmen Square, at about 3:40 p.m., the Beijing municipal public security bureau said.

The injured man has been sent to a hospital for treatment.

Suspect Wang Taicun, a native of East China’s Shandong Province, was arrested in the area an hour later. He confessed to police that he had come to Beijing to gain the attention of local authorities concerning personal matters.

The attack is under further police investigation.(Xinhua)
