Shunde feast at Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhen
    2013-06-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THIS June, come and enjoy Shunde cuisine with Chinese executive chef Sam Wu at China Spice of Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhen.

Shunde has long been widely regarded as the basis for exquisite Cantonese cuisine. While the cuisine of Guangzhou historically has been very minimalist in the use of flavorings, food from Shunde is celebrated for its liberal use of ingredients such as sun-dried tangerine peels and dates, resulting in simple but powerful flavors. Many of the dishes appear as humble, home-style cooking, but the preparation techniques and careful balances of taste and texture require experience and extensive culinary know-how, making Shunde a major hotspot for Cantonese culinary traditions.

One great achievement of Shunde cuisine is that its fame is largely based on the exceptional quality of its home-style dishes. Stir-fried milk custard and salted minced fish pancakes are especially common features on Shunde menus.
