THE city’s drug supervision administration canceled the drug operation licenses of 26 drugstores in the city after they were rated “extremely low-credit” stores, the administration said Monday.
The stores are not allowed to regain their licenses and have permanently lost their eligibility for drugstore operations, yesterday’s Daily Sunshine reported.
The 26 stores include a Pingle branch of Asia Pharmacy Chain Store in Longgang District, a Kangruntang drugstore in Shatou Community in Futian District, and a Baishizhou branch of Jianhua drugstore in Nanshan District, among others.
The administration said it had evidence of serious violations, such as selling counterfeit or unqualified drugs and conducting illegal medical treatments.
There were 6,768 drugstores across the city at the end of last year. According to a credibility evaluation conducted by the administration, 38 of those stores were found to have “low or extremely low credits” for selling counterfeit or unqualified drugs or conducting illegal medical treatments.
Eleven stores were rated as “low-credit” stores and 27 stores were found to be “extremely low-credit.”
A Buchong branch of the Asia Pharmacy Chain Store in Shajing Subdistrict, Bao’an District, was the only “extremely low-credit” store whose drug operation license was not canceled. The administration did not say why the store was able to keep its license, and said only that it had violated rules by not displaying drugs in designated areas.
The 38 stores included local branches of several major chain stores, such as Asia Pharmacy Chain Store and Guoantang.
Most of the stores were located in the Bao’an, Longgang, Guangming and Pingshan areas. (Wang Yuanyuan, Lai Junyu)
