Passengers escape from a bus by breaking window glass with a hammer during a public transportation emergency drill at Futian Transport Hub yesterday. The drill was held to prepare for bus fires in three scenarios, including a situation in which doors can’t automatically open. The drill followed the June 7 bus fire in Xiamen that killed 47 people, most of whom were trapped inside the burning bus. Shenzhen has 14,221 public buses operating on 854 routes. The bus system handles 6.6 million passengers a day.
