Prestigious dancing event returns to SZ
    2013-07-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 2013 WDC World Cup and 11th China (Shenzhen) Ballroom and Latin Dancing Open fulfilled dancers’ dreams in four days of competition last weekend.

More than 2,000 competitors divided into 22 groups joined this year’s competition, from July 18 to 21. Cheng Yiming and Yang Zhiting from Beijing won first prize in Asia-Pacific amateur standard ballroom dance; Wu Liufu and Du Yujun from Guangdong Province won in Asia-Pacific amateur Latin dance; Li Weiping and Zheng Cen from Shanghai won in Asia-Pacific professional standard; and Shenzhen competitor Zhao Liang and his partner, Svetalana Borisova, got the golden prize in Asia-Pacific professional Latin dance.

The two most important awards were given on the last night of competition. U.S. couple Victor Fung and Anastasia Muravyova collected first prize in open professional standard, while English couple Michael Malitowski and Joanna Leunis won in their division, open professional Latin dance.

The ballroom and Latin dancing competition is the most prestigious dancing event in Asia. Shenzhen has hosted the dancing competition for 11 years, making the city China’s capital of ballroom and Latin dance and a place where dancers come to fulfill their dreams.
