Having fun with street performances
    2013-11-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE open square at the Civic Center in Futian District had a festive scene Saturday with the first experimental street performance event open to Shenzhen citizens.

Street performers, or busking artists, from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao brought a wide variety of performances, including three-dimensional shows, chalk drawings, sand paintings, light paintings, magic, miming, puppet shows, body-painting, and cosplay.

The event, which was organized by the Futian District Government, was intended to promote public participation into different art forms and increase exchanges between performing artists.

The event attracted about 40,000 citizens.

Chen Xiaotian, a spokesperson from the cultural and sports development department of the Futian District Government, said the district will continue to introduce more cultural events in public areas in the future to increase the public’s access to art.(Anna Zhao, Sun Yuchen)
