Anna Zhao anna.whizh@yahoo.com THOUSANDS of Shenzhen residents who spent their Christmas Eve at Sea World in Shekou, Nanshan District, were enchanted by the festive mood of the Christmas gala, grand light show, and fountain stages. The light show and two water shows highlighted Tuesday night’s event at the Sea World plaza which has recently undergone a facelift. The water show, with an investment of 30 million yuan (US$4.8m) by China Merchants Group, offers a full view of fountains dancing with laser beams amid roaring fireballs accompanied by enthralling music. It will be open free to public Friday and Saturday nights in three shows at 7 p.m, 8 p.m. and 9 p.m, and two shows at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday. The light show will continue every night until Feb. 16, two days after the Chinese Lantern Festival. In addition to the beautiful night scenes, an interactive motion-detecting Fruit Ninja game was held outdoors, inviting public participation as it attracted a great number of visitors. Many people enjoyed the game by stretching out their hands to cut the fruit appearing on a huge LED screen, simply for the joy of working with strangers. The plaza will stage a performance of music and dance by artists from both China and abroad at 7 p.m Dec. 31 to celebrate the New Year. Sea World, with its exotic restaurants and boutique shopping mall, boasts an international aura, with the combined advantage of natural seaside scenery and its unique regional culture, as the premiere face of Shenzhen’s opening up and reform. |
