Heading south to Sanya for white sand and sunshine
    2014-01-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE year-round bright sunshine, blue water, wide beaches and green vegetation at Sanya, the southernmost tip of Hainan Province, attracts many regular visitors year after year, especially in the winter. The average winter temperature in the city ranges from 20 to 27 degrees Celsius.

Sanya boasts the most well-preserved and beautiful beaches in the country. Known as the “Oriental Hawaii,” Sanya offers various destinations that are all linked to the water.

Tianya Haijiao, which is literally known as the “edge of the sky and the rim of the sea,” is 24 kilometers away from the city’s downtown, attracting many Chinese tourists each year as the location is made famous for being featured in several movies and teleplays.

Among its beautiful beaches, Yalongwan, Dadonghai and Sanya Bay are the top three resorts.

The Nanshan Temple in Nanshan Culture Tourism Zone is also worth visiting. It is the most famous Buddhist temple in Hainan Province. A 108-meter-high replica of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva next to the temple can be seen from afar or even at the window of a plane when it’s about to land in the city.(Tan Yifan)
