Staying in town for Spring Festival
    2014-02-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN was once not a popular destination for the Spring Festival. Many local residents would comment that it was almost an abandoned city during the holiday. But in recent years, as more people have settled in the city and also as more people choose to travel during the Lunar New Year holiday, Shenzhen has gradually become a tourist destination.

Compared with many areas in China, the city enjoys relatively warmer days during the festival, with average temperatures around 20 degree Celsius, which has become one main reason for local people to stay and for others to come.

The city received more than 5.6 million tourists during the Spring Festival holiday, according to the city’s tourism administration.

To keep visitors and provide recreation for them, a variety of activities have been arranged to cheer up the local festival atmosphere.
