Artist: John Newman
Know I’ve done wrong, left your heart torn
Is that what devils do?
Took you so long, where only fools gone
I shook the angel in you!
Now I’m rising from the ground
Rising up to you!
Filled with all the strength I found
There’s nothing I can’t do!
Chorus:
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
...
It’s unforgivable,
I stole and burnt your soul
Is that what demons do, hey?
They rule the worst in me
Destroy everything,
They bring down angels like you, hey!
Now I’m rising from the ground
Rising up to you!
Filled with all the strength I found
There’s nothing I can’t do!
Chorus:
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
...
Told you once I can’t,
Do this again, do this again, oh!
I told you once I can’t,
Do this again, do this again, oh, oh!
Chorus:
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
...
Background
John Newman is one of the U.K. music scene’s brightest up-and-comers, first turning heads as the silver-voiced croon in Rudimental’s “Feel the Love,” before topping the U.K. charts with his own single “Love Me Again.”
“Filled with all the strength I’ve found, there’s nothing I can’t do,” he declares in his inimitable tones over defiant piano thuds, before asking: “I need to know now... can you love me again?” on a hip-swinging chorus of throwback northern soul. The answer, of course, is a resounding “yes.”
