Song of the Week
     2014-March-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    We Might

    Be Dead By Tomorrow

    Artist: Soko

    Give me all your love

    Cause for all we know

We might be dead by tomorrow

I can’t go on wasting my time

    Adding scars to my heart

    Cause all I hear is

    I’m not ready now

    And I can tell

    That you didn’t had

    To face your mother

    Losing her lover

    Without saying goodbye

    Without saying goodbye

    Cause she didn’t had time

    I don’t want to judge

    What’s in your heart

But if you’re not ready for love

How can you be ready for life?

How can you be ready for life?

    So let’s love fully

    Let’s love loud

    Let’s love now

    Cause soon enough we’ll die

    Background

“We Might Be Dead By Tomorrow” is a song by French singer Soko, from her studio album I Thought I Was an Alien. The track began to chart in 2014, thanks to the amount of views of the viral YouTube video “First Kiss”, which the song is included.

The song was inspired by the death of Soko’s father at 5. “I think it affected my and brother’s lives in such a way that we are absolute lovers of life,” she said. “I get so attached so quickly because I have this extremely high consciousness of death, that it’s just around the corner. So I hold on to every bit of love I can get.”

Soko wrote and produced the song, with additional production from Fritz Michaud. The track’s instrumentation consists of a guitar, soft violin and Soko’s vocals.
