Singer arrested for drug-related offences
     2014-April-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BEIJING Chaoyang District People’s Procuratorate approved the arrest of talent show singer Li Daimo yesterday, according to the procuratorate’s Sina Weibo account.

Li, 25, was detained on suspicion of drug-related offences March 17. “The Voice of China” talent show contestant was escorted by authorities to the city’s Sanlitun police station, where he was questioned on suspicion of taking drugs with a friend in a rented house.

The popular singer was released on bail later after a urine test found traces of an amphetamine-type substances in his body.

Li’s management firm, Bravo Entertainment, subsequently released a statement on microblogging site Weibo apologizing to fans and the public and promising not to abandon the singer at this time.

Originally from northeastern Heilongjiang Province and trained for singing at Shenyang University, the singer stepped into the limelight when he appeared on the entertainment talk show “Super Access” in 2012.

His status soared after performing on “The Voice of China,” an immensely popular reality talent show that first premiered in July 2012.
