Crime members plead guilty
     2014-April-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LIU WEI, the younger brother of the alleged organized crime boss, Liu Han, on Wednesday pleaded guilty, concluding a case implicating him and six other gang members in central China.

In his final statement Liu said he is willing to accept punishment for his crimes. The six other defendants also expressed regret for their criminal deeds.

The judgment will be announced another day, according to the Xianning Intermediate People’s Court in Hubei Province.

The trial of the brother, Liu Han, a former mining tycoon in Sichuan Province, is ongoing. Investigations have concluded and the court will commence deliberations starting Thursday.

Liu Han, Liu Wei and 34 other defendants are accused of major crimes, including murder, organizing and leading a gang, intentional assault, illegal detention, blackmail, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The ring is the largest mafia-style criminal group to be collectively prosecuted in China in recent years. (Xinhua)
