    Fewer smoggy days

SHENZHEN experienced 20 smoggy days in the first quarter of the year, the fewest in a decade, according to a report issued by Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory.

The number of smoggy days also ranks at 10 fewer than the same period last year. The average visibility was 12.5 kilometers, the clearest in 10 years. The reduction of hazy days was mainly attributed to frequent flows of cooler air currents and an increase in rainy days, the observatory said.

    Bus crash

ELEVEN people were injured, including three in serious condition, when a truck rear-ended a bus at a bus stop in Pinghu, Longang District, on Saturday.

Passengers were disembarking when the M311 bus, carrying 40, was struck by the truck, according to a passenger surnamed Wang. The bus subsequently hit an electric bike carrying two riders. The driver of the truck was suspected of speeding.

The three hospitalized included two bus passengers and an electric bike rider. Police are investigating.

    ICIF invitation

AROUND 17,000 overseas buyers from 95 countries and regions will attend the China (Shenzhen) International Culture Industries Fair to be held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on May 15-19, according to the organizer.

Attendees from eight nations, including the U.K., Russia, Lithuania, Chile and Austria, will operate independent exhibit booths at the fair. The exhibition area to be occupied by the overseas exhibitors accounts for 15.1 percent of the exhibition’s total area, about 100,000 square meters.
