FORMER French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero brings world-class training methods and elite coaches to China upon launching his eponymous international tennis academy in Pingshan New District in Shenzhen on Monday.

Grand Gemdale Tennis Club, a subsidiary of Gemdale Group, will operate the project with JC Ferrero Academy. The teaching side of the facility will focus on training teenage pro tennis aspirants from around the world.

The only arena in Shenzhen capable of accommodating top-level contests like ATP 500, the newly-built facility features a 5,000-seat central court, four indoor hard courts, four clay courts and 16 outdoor courts. The academy is scheduled to open this September, in time for ATP 250.
