Attackers killed in Xinjiang Three knife-wielding* attackers were seized by civilians* and policemen in Hotan Prefecture of northwestern China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Sunday. Two of the attackers died while the third one was injured. Four civilians were injured in fighting with the attackers. On July 24 last year, Tan, pregnant at the time, lured a 17-year-old girl, Hu Yixuan, to her home. The couple, who were arrested four days later, drugged Hu and attempted to rape her. Although the rape failed, the couple killed the girl and buried her in a rural area. Chemical plant shut A chemical plant in Hunan Province has been closed down over suspicions that it caused the lead* poisoning of hundreds of local children. Blood tests on more than 300 children in Dapu Township of Hengdong County found excessive levels of lead, indicating heavy metal poisoning.
