    Qianhai’s growth

A TOTAL of 10,388 enterprises have been registered this year in Qianhai, a 15-square-kilometer coastal strip bordering Hong Kong, according to statistics released by the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone.

No more than 600 enterprises registered their businesses in Qianhai during the same period last year.

Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin presented a business license Wednesday to the 10,000th company registered in Qianhai. The company is wholly owned by a Hong Kong company. So far, there are 405 Hong Kong-invested enterprises in Qianhai.

    Trains suspended

FOURTEEN trains on the Xiamen-Shenzhen rail line were temporarily suspended because of Typhoon Matmo. Railway authorities said passengers can get refunds at train stations operated by Guangzhou Railway Group in five days.

    Summer travels

STUDENTS have become the largest group of people traveling across the border since the start of the summer vacation, checkpoint authorities said.

By Wednesday, the number of people using the Huanggang and Futian checkpoints this month had surpassed 6 million yuan (US$974,340), a daily average of 242,000 people. Nearly 40,000 tour groups used the checkpoints to travel to Hong Kong, Macao and foreign countries during this period, and the majority of these were comprised of students, checkpoint officers said.

    More flights

STARTING Saturday, traffic volume at Shenzhen International Airport will increase from 42 to 46 flights during peak hour, equivalent to about one flight every 80 seconds, airport authority said Thursday.

After Saturday, the number of flights per day at Shenzhen’s airport will reach 800.
