    Anti-monopoly

CHINA’S market regulator confirmed yesterday that investigators have launched surprise anti-monopoly inspections of Microsoft Corporation’s four offices in China. The State Administration for Industry and Commerce sent its investigators to the company’s offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu on Monday.

    Trial date set

THE public trial of a foreign couple linked to drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline is set for Aug. 8, a Shanghai court said yesterday.

British corporate investigator Peter Humphrey and his American wife Yu Yingzeng are accused of illegally obtaining private information. The couple were detained last year following work they did for the British drugmaker. The couple will stand trial at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 8 for “illegally obtaining private information about citizens,” according to the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court.
