Massive reconstructions reshaping city
    2014-08-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

IN the first half of the year, 18.23 billion yuan (US$2.96 billion) was spent on construction projects in Shenzhen, up 34.6 percent from the previous year, according to Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Among those massive construction projects, 73 are urban renewal projects. Some of the them are transforming old residential or industrial areas into new apartments and business complexes. Many old, shabby areas such as Ludancun, Dachong Village and Hubei Old Village were torn down and are being replaced with new complexes. Ludancun, which was bulldozed in early June, will be home to hundreds of new apartments.

Isolated by high, thin walls, many locals have no idea what is being built in their neighborhoods. Here, we shed a little light on some of the bigger projects currently under construction.(Tan Yifan)
