《忍者神龟 》
This is the newest addition to the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” series.
New York City lifestyle TV reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) is looking to get her hands on some hard news, but her boss, Bernadette (Whoopi Goldberg), couldn’t be less interested. Even her cameraman, Vern (Will Arnett), isn’t sure she can report on the crime wave sweeping the city.
The Foot Clan endangers New York residents. When O’Neil watches a vigilante* attacking Clan members one night, she comes upon* the story of her career*, tracking down* four six-foot-tall, mutated talking turtles with ninja fighting skills.
Named after four Renaissance artists, teenagers Raphael (Alan Ritchson), Michelangelo (Noel Fisher), Leonardo (Pete Ploszek) and Donatello (Jeremy Howard) make their home in the city’s sewer* system with the wise rat known as Splinter (Danny Woodburn), who has trained them in the skills of ninjutsu*, making them martial arts* experts.
Still in training, the turtles are not yet ready to fight the Foot Clan members and their leader Shredder, who would come after the turtles. Meanwhile, O’Neil turns to businessman and old family friend Eric Sachs (William Fichtner) for help. She wants to find out about the turtles’ origins, not knowing that Sachs has secret ties with Shredder.
When the turtles and Splinter come to trust her, O’Neil discovers Shredder’s plan to conquer* New York and the key role the turtles may play in defeating* the Foot Clan.
Screenwriters Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec and Evan Daugherty spend much time setting up O’Neil’s investigation* of the mystery vigilantes, which causes a delay before the turtles finally appear onscreen.
Director Jonathan Liebesman keeps events moving smoothly and the visual effects look superior onscreen. However, the 101-minute running time and the nonstop cartoonish* violence* may be too much for grown-up audiences.
