SHENZHEN residents and visitors from both home and abroad pay tribute to the statue of late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping — the city’s creator — to commemorate his 110th birth anniversary Friday. Deng was born Aug. 22, 1904, in Sichuan Province. He was called the chief architect of China’s reform and opening up for his painstaking efforts in leading the country’s modern-day transformation, starting in the 1970s. China has been holding a series of activities to celebrate the late leader’s life. (SD News)
