    Print base

    MANY residents complained the closure of some areas of Guanlan Print Base, Longhua New Area, which was renovated from Hakka villages, was a waste of tourism resources.

    Many residents who visited the print base found some ancient buildings were closed to the public and many tourists couldn’t find shelter from scorching sun or rain.

    The print base management said the closure was made to ensure artists could work and rest peacefully, as the base is a cultural project and some facilities need to be improved for tourism purposes.

    Moon cake quality

    ALL the moon cakes randomly checked by Shenzhen food administration had met quality standards, according to a report released Monday.

    The administration checked 154 batches of moon cakes made by 118 food manufacturers, including food companies, supermarkets and restaurants.

    Ebola case

    THE local health authority said a Chinese man from Nigeria who had a fever when entering China from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint on Friday tested negative for Ebola yesterday at Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital.

    The man went to Nigeria to do construction work in Lagos a year ago. He left the country Thursday and arrived in Shenzhen on Friday.

    Hair auction

    A SHENZHEN woman’s 2-meter-long hair was bought for 22,222 yuan (US$3,604) in an online auction by an artist identified as “LinzhongkongdiLichtung” on Sina Weibo on Monday night.

    The woman named Xiao Ming will donate the money to the Guangdong Baixi Education Foundation to help set up a reading room in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The artist plans to shoot a film telling the story of Xiao and her long hair.

    Marine base

    DAPENG New Area is planning to build a marine rescue base that functions as a facility for both routine medical treatment and marine accident handling.

    Construction of the Xichong Medical Rescue and Aid Center is expected to be completed this year. It will be expanded from the existing Xichong Community Health Center, which has five medical employees and serves 3,500 local residents.

    Coma patient

    A 27-YEAR-OLD woman surnamed Fu, who went into a coma on her way to work in June, is recovering after treatment at a local hospital.

    Doctors at Shenzhen Hospital for Occupational Diseases said the hospital will remove Fu’s life support next week after intensive care. Fu showed signs of consciousness July 28 and now is under rehabilitation.
