SHENZHEN will start construction of its outer-ring expressway in the third quarter of this year, according to a business operation report for the January-to-June period.
The report has been handed to the city’s lawmakers for review.
The 93-km outer-ring expressway project has a budget of 26.7 billion yuan (US$4.33 billion) and includes 82 bridges and 12 tunnels.
The 76-km Shenzhen section will be the longest expressway in the city when it is completed in 2018.
The outer-ring expressway is viewed as the most important of the seven horizontal expressways in Shenzhen’s expressway network. It is part of the Pearl River Delta expressway network and will link with a dozen expressways and national highways.
