How to find cheap hotels
    2014-09-05  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

STAYING on weeknights instead of during the weekend, staying a few miles away from popular destinations or traveling during the off-season — these are all techniques that most travelers know about for getting a cheaper hotel room. However, with a few other tricks up your sleeve, you could save even more. Of course, the more flexible you are with your travel dates, the better deal you will find.

    Step 1

Search for a hotel room on a website that searches hundreds of hotel booking sites. For example, rather than searching for a room directly on Hotwire, then on Travelocity, then on Priceline and so forth, search for a room on kayak.com or sidestep.com. These sites search hundreds of websites, including the ones mentioned, so you can compare prices for the same hotels for the same dates. A lesser-known travel site might just have a better deal. (Don’t forget to compare fees and cancelation policies as well.)

    Step 2

Call the hotel for reservations. Once you have found the best price online, call to see if the hotel will give you an even cheaper rate. Calling the hotel directly eliminates the commission cost, and the hotel may pass part of the savings on to you. As an added bonus, they might even offer you an upgrade or a voucher to a local restaurant.

    Step 3

Sign up for promotional emails from individual hotel chains. Hotels run promotions that you’re less likely to miss if you’re on their mailing list.

    Step 4

Book through a travel agent. Even though travel agents receive a commission from hotels, they often have access to the best deals. They also know if a price is a good deal.

    Step 5

Check out free travel guides from rest areas, gas stations and restaurants. It will make your travel easier if you are on the road traveling and are looking for a place to stay that night.(SD-Agencies)
