THE city’s urban management bureau plans to launch a three-month campaign to clean up private clubs, teahouses and restaurants in parks starting this month.
The campaign is designed to improve public spaces and facilities in the city.
The housing and construction administration inspected 40 public parks in January where they discovered that public facilities in seven parks were being used for private businesses such as restaurants.
Following the inspection, teahouses in four parks were shut down, including at Huanggang Park in Futian District.
The teahouse in Huanggang Park, Shanhaixuan, was turned into a cultural company, which uses the facility to exhibit a variety of stones.
Shenzhen also plans to improve park infrastructure, including toilets, benches and trash cans.
Based on official standards, parks over 5,000 square meters must have toilet facilities and parks over 20,000 square meters must have rain shelters.
