British desert tasting experience offered by The Langham, SZ
    2014-10-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CHERISH FINDEN, the executive pastry chef from The Langham, London, will present pastry art, as well as authentic British afternoon tea and British culture, during her five-day stay in The Langham, Shenzhen from Nov. 11 to 15.

Singapore-born Finden is the multi-award winning executive pastry chef at The Langham, London since 2009. With over 20 years of international experience, Finden has created an innovative and imaginative menu for The Langham’s Palm Court.

Growing up as the eldest daughter in a family of five, Finden was often responsible for preparing supper for the family, so she was eventually inspired to further develop her talent at Shatect Culinary School in Singapore. After leaving school, Finden indulged her competitive side and entered the Food & Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge where she was awarded a bronze medal in confectionary.

Finden’s work at The Langham, London earned the hotel the prestigious Tea Guild’s “Top London Afternoon Tea” award in 2010 and “Service of Excellence” awards for three consecutive years.

Finden notes that elements of her upbringing in Singapore are always evident in her work. Many of her desserts include exotic Asian ingredients such as goji berry, snow fungus, red bean, ginkgo nut and blue ginger.
