Brother hunts for missing sibling in SZ
     2014-October-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A MAN is looking for his missing sibling in Shenzhen after he learned that his younger brother showed up for work in the city, Shenzhen Evening News reported.

Huang Min, a native of Jingzhou in Hubei Province, said his younger brother, Huang Hai, a student of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hubei, quit school March 27 without leaving information on his whereabouts.

The Huang brothers were reportedly in a tough financial situation due to being abandoned by their parents. Their father left home in 2001 after running up a hefty gambling debt, and their mother left home in 2008 after remarrying.

Huang Min was forced to drop out of school when he was in primary school to support his younger brother. He hopes his brother will complete his university education, despite him expressing his intention to discontinue his studies last winter vacation.

Huang Min took over the family’s finances at an early age and has been subsidizing his younger brother’s education by working on construction sites. But his earnings could hardly cover his brother’s tuition fees and life expenditures.

Nevertheless, he managed to send his brother, a top student at school, to university.

He said his younger brother may have changed his mind about finishing his education after witnessing the elder brother kneel down to thank a village official who lent money to the brothers.

Huang said his younger brother didn’t say a word to him for several days after the incident. “I shouldn’t have brought my brother there. I think he was hurt by my actions. We have been stressed financially for a long time and he must have quit school to relieve my pressure,” said Huang.

Huang had put up ads in local newspapers and on TV to look for his younger brother, but his efforts were in vain.

In September, he learned from his brother’s classmate that Huang Hai was working as a waiter at a restaurant in Nanshan District, but when he rushed to the restaurant earlier this month, he was disappointed to find that his brother had resigned from the job just a few days ago without taking his wages for September.

Huang is continuing to hunt for his brother, although he has nearly run out of money.
