Woman appeals order to return ex’s money
     2014-October-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A 22-YEAR-OLD woman has appealed to Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court against an earlier court judgment that required her to return 2.3 million yuan (US$377,000) to a Hong Kong man who accused her of cheating on him.

The Hong Kong man, Zhang, aged 55, met the woman, Song, in 2009 and later started a relationship with her, according to yesterday’s report by Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Zhang gave cash and many luxury goods to Song.

Song promised to marry Zhang in 2013, at which point she began asking for more money for purchasing a home and other necessities for wedding, Zhang claimed.

At her request, Zhang bought Song an Aston Martin car worth more than 2 million yuan in May 2013.

However, Song allegedly started various disputes with Zhang after acquiring the luxury car. Eventually she broke up with Zhang.

When Zhang pleaded for her to stay, she claimed that she had started a new relationship and had been impregnated by another man, Zhang said.

Zhang then brought Song to Nanshan District People’s Court and demanded that she return 3.5 million yuan to him.

The court ordered Song to return 2.3 million yuan to Zhang and said the remaining 1.2 million yuan was given by a third party, therefore Zhang had no legal claim over the money. Zhang had told the court he paid the 1.2 million yuan to Song in three transfers via a money exchange company in Hong Kong.

Song hoped to settle the case by returning three cars, including the Aston Martin, that Zhang had given her.
