Waves
Artist: Mr. Probz
My face above the water
My feet can’t touch the ground
Touch the ground, and it feels like
I can see the sands on the horizon everytime (everytime)
You are not around
I’m slowly drifting away (drifting away)
Wave after wave
Wave after wave
I’m slowly drifting (drifting away)
And it feels like I’m drowning
Pulling against the stream
Pulling against the stream
I wish I could make it easy
Easy to love me
Love me
But still I reach, to find a way
I’m stuck here in between
I’m looking for the right words to say (to say)
I’m slowly drifting, drifting away
Wave after wave
Wave after wave
I’m slowly drifting (drifting away)
And it feels like I’m drowning
Pulling against the stream
Pulling against the stream
Background
Waves” is a song by Dutch singer-songwriter Mr. Probz. It was first released as a stand-alone digital single in November last year, becoming a top 10 hit in the Netherlands.
The song became an international hit upon being remixed in a more uptempo fashion by German electronic music producer Robin Schulz, with Schulz’ remix topping the charts in multiple countries, including Austria, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The song has been Shazamed and YouTubed all over Britain, while Europe has already adopted it as the continental summer anthem. If you’re not won over by the chilled bongo taps, the sun-kissed guitar riffs and club beats courtesy of Robin Schulz will have you floating off to a Balaeric beach in double time. Probz’s husky vocal confesses, trying to keep his heart adrift in a tempestuous relationship. The contemplative mood might seem heavier than what you’d usually expect from a breezy electronic number, but it’s that added emotional depth on a progressive house track that will keep it anchored to the top of the chart.
