THE latest designs in wearable devices, personalized vehicles, 3D printing and smart furniture will be showcased at the second China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design Fair, which will be held from Saturday to Tuesday at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

Organized by the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen and the Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association, the fair, which is themed “Redesign and New Market,” will exhibit over 5,000 works from 25 countries and regions.

The works on display were selected by an international team of judges led by American Karim Rashid.

Rashid and other world-renowned designers, including Stefano Giovannoni from Italy and Masayuki Kurokawa from Japan, will give speeches, display their works and release their latest designs at the fair.

An array of new design products will be unveiled at the fair, including modern furniture by Spanish brand Vondom, smart glasses by REED, a wristband developed for children by Tencent, a smart cup co-designed by Shenzhen company Rrioo and shorts with built-in sensors by a designer from Denmark and the company Mshorts.

The fair will also showcase award-winning designs from the American Spark Awards, Munich Creative Business Week, the Japanese Good Design Awards, Florence Design Week and the iF-Universal Design Awards.

Companies and organizations, such as Misfit, the world’s leading manufacturer of wearable devices, OSVehicle, an Italian open source framework for the creation of vehicles, and Fabrication Laboratory from MIT will attend the fair.

In addition, Denmark and Italy will have their own pavilions featuring their products.

The fair will also include a series of forums, workshops and lectures.

Visitors can register at the fair’s website www.ciidf.com for admission or buy tickets at the door.

    Exhibits on display:

    1. An LED candle Playbulb Candle.

    2. A smart cup O-cup.

    3. A FIYTA watch from the “Photographer” series.

    4. A wearable device for medical use.
