SHENZHEN Urbanism\Architecture Bi-City Biennale organizing committee has officially announced the chief curator and curatorial team for the 2015 Shenzhen-Hong Kong Urbanism\Architecture Bi-City Biennale (Shenzhen).

The curatorial team includes Aaron Betsky, Alfredo Brillembourg, Hubert Klumpner and Doreen Heng Liu. The team will collaborate with Swiss Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) to jointly complete this session’s curatorial work.

Betsky, a critic and curator, directed the 11th Venice International Architecture Biennale. Brillembourg and Klumpner work in the department of architecture and urban design at ETH Zurich. Liu is the founder of NODE (Nansha Original Design) and an associate professor at the School of Architecture, Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The theme of UABB (Shenzhen) 2015 is “Re-living the City.” The biennale will argue that people need to open up, reuse and rethink cities, buildings, and spaces we already have. It will investigate the best examples of tactical urbanism, showing how people can connect with places by design.

The biennale will ask architects, designers and artists to create a collective Collage 3D City on site. It will provide visitors with exposure to and interaction with makers who use the latest technology as well as traditional craft methods to let people make or remake their own spaces. It will celebrate an urban scene filled with food, music, and interactive installations.

Shekou area will again be the exhibition venue for 2015 UABB (Shenzhen). A second venue is also planned to further demonstrate the geographical features and cultural characteristics of Shenzhen.
