Work on SZ-Zhongshan Corridor to start
     2014-December-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    (From Page 1)

Experts attending the forum said the corridor will stimulate cooperation among industries, urban planning and ecological construction.

“‘Work in Shenzhen, live in Zhongshan’ will be a new lifestyle, as the corridor will bring the two cities within a one-hour round trip of each other,” Wei Dazhi, a professor at Shenzhen University, said at the forum.

“The corridor will link the Qianhai area in Shenzhen and Cuiheng New Area in Zhongshan. Zhongshan could be the backyard for Shenzhen’s industrial transfers and strategic adjustments as the land prices, both for commercial and industrial uses, are only one-eighth of those in Shenzhen. The housing prices are only one-fifth of the prices in Shenzhen. It is also good for Zhongshan to upgrade its own industries,” said Professor Liang Shilun, executive vice president of Zhongshan Economic Research Institute.

As the corridor will either go above or beneath the mouth of the Pearl River (or potentially both), research has been launched on issues such as river navigation, flight altitude control at Shenzhen’s airport and flood control at the mouth of the Pearl River.(Han Ximin)
