Tunnel completed
THE tunnel linking Shenzhen North Railway Station and Futian Station on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail has been completed and Futian Station, the largest underground railway station in Asia, will be put into operation at the end of 2015. The construction of the tunnel, which runs about 10 kilometers, took about six years. The trip from Futian to Guangzhou and Hong Kong will take about 30 minutes and 15 minutes when the whole line is put into operation at the end of 2017, according to Shenzhen’s rail construction office.
Cancer hospital
SHENZHEN Cancer Hospital, the first of the kind in the city, was put into partial operation Monday.
The hospital, formerly known as Baohe Hospital, is located on Baohe Road in Longgang District.
During the trial operation period, the hospital only opened its medical and surgical clinics.
Other departments will be fully opened in the third quarter of 2015, according to the hospital.
Attack at home
A MAN was jailed for three years and six months after being convicted of stabbing his wife, whom he suspected of having an affair.
The man, surnamed Song, attempted to kill his wife, Peng, on Aug. 26 this year when she was sleeping. Peng suffered serious injuries to her head, neck and palm. She escaped and neighbors helped call police, Nanshan court said.
New tollgate
THE new tollgate of Meiguan Expressway, which has been built near Qinghu Flyover, will be put into operation before the Spring Festival holiday this February, the operator said.
Illegal building
Shiyan law enforcement department in Bao’an District demolished 2,000 square meters of iron sheets being used as waste collection stations behind Tangtou Elementary School in Tangtou community recently.
Sixty law enforcement officers mobilized 12 vehicles and two digging machines to demolish the illegal structures, which were built within the city’s ecological control line and had serious safety issues.
