AN art museum dedicated to presenting the achievements of young artists, in particular Shenzhen artists, will be set up in Yantian District in the district’s cultural center, according to the Shenzhen Young Artists Association.
The museum, which covers an area of 1,500 square meters, will include an office area for the association and an exhibition area to showcase works by young artists. It is scheduled to open in 2015.
Ding Lin, who was newly elected as the association’s president, said she would lead the association in promoting young artists by organizing various events for its members, such as yearly appraisals of member artists, publishing annual albums of their work and setting up an art fund to support their development.
Chen Xiangbo, curator of Guan Shanyue Art Museum and the association’s first president, was elected the association’s permanent honorary president.
The association, a nonprofit organization voluntarily founded by local artists in 2010, is a platform for exchange between young artists, incubates their talent, and helps them present their work to the world through exhibitions, such as the ink and brush painting exhibition that was held in Zhaoqing City in May 2013 and an exhibition of fine brushwork paintings that took place in Shenzhen in May 2014.
The city has seen an explosion of budding young artists in places such as Guanlan Original Printmaking Base, Wutongshan Art Town, F518 Idea Land and OCT-LOFT.
