Celebrate holidays in European style at The Langham Shenzhen
    2015-02-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Langham Shenzhen is celebrating Valentine’s Day with romantic occasions and treats and welcoming the Year of the Goat with Chinese New Year gifts and family feasts at the European-style sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Classic European-style club Duke’s is inviting loving couples on a fragrant journey with a “Strawberry & Champagne Valentine’s” on Feb. 14.

The seductive menu starts with slow-roasted strawberry with mushroom and truffle chantilly, with main course choices of red mullet or beef Rossini, and a delicate dessert called Strawberries of Love. The set is priced at 1,728 yuan (US$276) for two.

Romance is also in the air with Valentine’s afternoon tea at the elegant lounge Palm Court, where executive pastry chef George Xiong presents classic British afternoon tea for two with a loving twist, combining iconic scones with Devonshire clotted cream and sweet delicacies from “black swan” cream puffs and chocolate cakes to rose marshmallows and strawberry tarts. The tea set is priced at 288 yuan for two.

At the all-day dining venue Silk, a Valentine’s Day buffet will be served under candlelight with roses against the backdrop of sweet melodies. The buffet is priced at 1,288 yuan for two. The luxury lobster and seafood buffet includes dozens of fresh favorites from global cuisines.

Chinese New Year celebrations at T’ang Court continue the gourmet tradition of its Michelin-starred sister restaurant at The Langham Hong Kong, serving traditional Cantonese Lunar New Year dinners for family get-togethers from Feb. 10 to 28. Three elaborate menus have been designed for tables of 10 to welcome the Year of the Goat, priced at 9,800 to 15,800 yuan.

Bakery Treasures & Scent has also designed three flavors of niangao especially for the Year of the Goat, elaborately packaged in exquisite boxes to represent wishes for health and good fortune. Highly acclaimed by guests over years, the delicacies are on sale from now to Feb. 25. Luxurious New Year hampers are also available.
