Connecting With Autism Community
    2015-04-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Connecting with autism communityLOCAL residents with autism, along with their families, participated in a special sports meet on World Autism Awareness Day on April 2.

Themed “Childishness is within everyone,” the sports meet was sponsored by autism organizations, training institutions and a charity foundation.

The event celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and has drawn much attention from the public. But the autistic community is still in great need of social support and recognition.

Approximately 2.6 percent of Shenzhen’s children are autistic, according to Gong Jianhua, director of the Childcare Department at Luohu District Hospital of Maternity and Childcare. (SD News)
