    Another storage tank on fire

    Another oil storage tank caught fire at a plant in East China’s FujianProvince, more than 40 hours after blasts occurred there, authorities said on April 8.

    The fourth tank, which stored nearly 1,500 tons of hydrocarbon* liquid, caught fire and exploded on April 7. On April 6, oil that leaked from a xylene* facility caught fire and led to blasts* at three nearby chemical oil tanks at Tenglong Aromatic Hydrocarbon (Zhangzhou) Co. Ltd.

    

    Govt. fees to be eliminated

    The Chinese Government will eliminate random government fees for firms within six months in the latest efforts to reduce enterprises’ burdens and boost market vitality*.

    The campaign will target administrative fees and government funds that force enterprises to pay for approval, market supervision and entry and guild membership.

    

    Policy bank to be reformed

    The State Council has approved plans to reform three Chinese policy banks.

    The banks are the China Development Bank (CDB), the Export-Import Bank of China (also known as the China Exim Bank) and the Agricultural Development Bank of China (ADBC).

    The CDB must stick to its positioning as a “development financial institution” while the China Exim Bank must build itself into a “policy bank with sustainable development capacities” and the ADBC must become an “agriculture policy bank with sustainable development capacities.”

    

    Sina faces suspension

    Chinese Web giant Sina will face suspension of its Internet news services if it fails to improve censorship* of illegal content, authorities have warned.

    Since the beginning of the year, the authorities have received 6,038 complaints about Sina. It said the reports indicated that “Sina has spread illegal information related to rumors, violence and terrorism, pornography, swindling*, advocating of heresies* and has distorted news facts, violated morality and engaged in media hype*.”(SD-Agencies)
