Summer getaway at Dapeng
    2015-05-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

DAPENG Peninsula, which is located east of Shenzhen, has more to offer than just its beautiful coastline and the National Geopark.

The famed Dapeng Fortress is just next to the sea, sprawling 110,000 square meters. Built in 1394 as a military base to safeguard the east part of today’s Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the fortress remains largely intact with Ming- and Qing-style architecture.

After touring the fortress, visitors usually walk to the nearby seafood street to savor fresh crabs, fish, shellfish, etc.

Many visitors choose to stay for a couple days at the family-owned inns and enjoy water sports such as surfing and water rugby.(Tan Yifan)
