Tofu Boutique opens at JW Marriott Shenzhen
    2015-05-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

YOUNG food and beverage entrepreneur, Estella Pan, who won Marriott International’s inaugural “BANG!” competition in China, which offered the chance to open a dream concept restaurant, is unveiling her Tofu Boutique at JW Marriott Shenzhen on Monday.

Pan’s vision of a stylish and contemporary twist on traditional tofu recipes passed down through her family was selected from numerous entries to win the ground-breaking contest that promised, “You have the idea, we have the space.” Now her dream has come true with the official opening of Tofu Boutique.

Pan’s Tofu Boutique is in the nostalgic style of a traditional Chinese coastal village, detailed with bamboo, kerosene lamps and hemp rope used on fishing boats. “It brings back memories of my own hometown, far from the hustle and bustle of modern urban life punctuated by the scent of soybean, rekindling fond memories of the comfort food we remember from childhood,” she said.

Pan was taught to cook by her grandfather, who passed on “secret recipes” now incorporated into the menu with a modern twist. Her modern take on this nutritious staple of the Chinese diet incorporates the modern concept of diners selecting their favorite bases and toppings for tofu for quick, convenient and healthy comfort food.

Some of the restaurant’s signature dishes include Pan’s tofu noodle soup in a rich, nourishing and delicious broth of slow-boiled seafood made from a secret recipe. Some of her contemporary twists on tofu include tofu salad and a spicy chicken sandwich.

To celebrate the opening, the hotel will be offering guests a complimentary glass of soybean milk along with a surprise discount for WeChat followers from now until June 17.(SD News)
