    8 killed in bus accident

EIGHT people have been confirmed dead as of 10:30 p.m. and more than 40 others injured after a bus overturned in Central China’s Hunan Province, local authorities said.

The accident happened at 11:40 a.m. Saturday in Xinning County when the bus, carrying 52 passengers, all employees of a company from the capital city of Changsha, ran into a road barrier on the expressway from Changsha to the county. The passengers were on their way to Langshan Mountain for a trip.

    600 arrested

BEIJING police have busted 68 organized prostitution gangs and arrested over 600 suspects in a month-long campaign against prostitution, gambling and drugs.

The arrests were made in raids at entertainment venues including private clubs, discotheques and bath houses across the city since April, according to the Beijing public security bureau.

Three clubs and three karaoke parlors have been closed for engaging in prostitution and gambling.

    ‘Morality bank’ opens

A MORALITY bank in a northeastern Chinese city has seen residents rushing to open accounts that enable them to exchange good deeds for free services.

Citizens in Yanji City, Jilin Province, can accumulate credits with the bank, operated by Danying Community, through tasks such as collecting plastic bags off the streets, handing in lost wallets and donating blood, and more.

Over 600 citizens have opened accounts since the bank was established May 14, said Wang Shuqing, a community official.
