Past and present— Rare photos reveal changes after war victory
    2015-07-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SEVENTY-EIGHT years ago the eight-year war of resistance against Japanese aggression started, and the Lugou Bridge Incident, which was on July 7, 1937, triggered the full-scale Japanese invasion.

As early as 1931, the Japanese appeared in northern China, but it wasn’t until six years later that the resistance became urgent for the Chinese people.

China and its allies finally defeated Japan on Aug. 15, 1945.

Fast forward to today and everything has been rebuilt from the shambles. To commemorate the victory and remember the pains brought by war, some of the photos on this page depict the history of the war and its legacy.(Tan Yifan)
