STARWOOD Hotels and Resorts Asia Pacific announced that the “Run to Give” charity event will happen in 105 places across the Asia Pacific on Oct. 11. “Run to Give underscores Starwood’s commitment to meaningful change in the communities where our hotels operate, focusing on the intrinsic need to belong to something bigger,” said Stephen Ho, president of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Asia Pacific. “Last year was the first time we organized the charity run, it met an immense response. This year, with the continued support from our associates, we are confident that ‘Run to Give’ will accomplish more than we ever could alone.” The race held at Dameisha has a 3-kilometer run, a 5-kilometer run and a 10-kilometer run. Runners can choose which event they want to do. The top three contestants will get prizes provided by the hotel, and all participants will be entered in a lottery and get certificates. The 11 Starwood hotels will organize a charity bazaar. All donations raised from “Run to Give” and the charity bazaar will go towards WABC, an NGO that helps those with special needs develop their artistic ability. Starting in 2014 as the Hotel Charity Run, the inaugural event saw 20,000 runners take part in 92 locations across the Asia Pacific, raising almost US$228,000. Starwood hotels from the region organized these runs to raise funds for local charities. This year, the run is named “Run to Give,” a name chosen from 500 submissions from inside the company. Registration is 80 yuan. Participants will get a T-shirt, a pair of socks and bottled water. Anyone interested can email daniel.chen3@sheraton.com or visit http://runtogive.asia/. (SD News) |
